Arts & Culture & Business & Innovation
Business professionals get hands-on innovation training while creating new possibilities for local arts & culture nonprofits.
The City of Dubuque understands significant value is created when communities prioritize arts & culture in their community and economic development strategies. Not only do arts and cultural organizations (and the programs, services, and experiences they offer) contribute significantly to the local economy, they increase quality of life within a community and make it easier for companies to attract and retain a high quality workforce.
Each year the City of Dubuque’s Arts & Cultural Affairs office facilitates an Arts & Business Luncheon to celebrate the relationship between arts & culture organizations and the broader business community. As part of the annual luncheon, the city was looking for opportunities to directly connect businesses with arts & culture organization and approached Creative Adventure Lab to help.
Creative Adventure Lab worked with the City of Dubuque Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs the and Arts & Cultural Affairs commission to design and facilitate an Arts & Culture Community Innovation Challenge. Premier Bank, a local financial institution, sponsored the inaugural event and 8 local businesses participated in the 1-day IDEAthon innovation session to help 3 local arts & culture nonprofits.
We could tell you all the cool ideas, connections, and community impact that came out of the day but if you watch the short video below you can hear it from the participants themselves.
